St . Petersburg Part 2

Sorry this is way late, but it will be something of interest while there is nothing of interest happening here. Mostly we are spending our days reading, knitting, practicing German, going for walks, napping and eating. I've been getting BH contractions for a little while now. Nothing consistent. We've stocked our freezer and cabinets and fridge. We're just waiting!

Our first full day in St. Petersburg. We walked around some before heading into the Ethnography Museum.

Me at the Church of the Split Blood.

John looking up at the church, but I liked the iron work too.

We decided that we liked that it wasn't symmetrical.

We spent a long time in the Ethnography Museum. We had a nice long lunch at Zoom Cafe, which had a little fun menu, colored pencils for drawing on the white paper place mats, and best of all tons of board games. So we ate slowly, each getting a salad first, and played chess. It was nice and relaxing, not to mention I beat John. We also had great Georgian food for dinner. I'm not sure any more what we did in between, though with it being dark, who can keep track. The Georgian food though was really good. We pretty much had the same seasoning but I had soup with noodles and he just didn't have the broth, but some kind of noodles. I would love to learn how to make some!

Yes, we saw a pony walking the streets. The person wasn't on the pony the whole time. But we saw it and ran to catch up until it had to stop at an intersection and we could get a picture.

Peter the Great. The stone is supposed to look like a wave.

Funny Christmas lights and funny Christmas trees. They are huge, but made of cut branches attached to a metal conical frame.

We walked across the river and around to Peter and Paul Fortress. We were trying to see it all, and follow Luda's route that she had drawn for us. We did get back pretty late to the hotel but it was a nice night, despite the long walk.

The Hermitage at night from across the river.

Peter and Paul Fortress at night. We were on our way there.
