We had a lovely day! Hope it was for all of you as well.
| That's the ornament from Allison and Rachel. He had been carrying it by the string, swinging it around. |
Next was presents of course. Edwin didn't really open many of them. You can imagine how it happened. Just like you've heard. He kind of pulled on some paper. Only played with the first present that was opened, etc. Poor future kids! They will probably have 1 ornament to hang on the tree each, where as Edwin will have 5 from his first Christmas! Better have another baby quick, while the enthusiasm is high.
We opened presents at a fairly good pace. Saving one of the best for last. John and I's to each other. I "lied" about the socks I was knitting all week. They were really for him. And he had gone secretly and bought us a Advent Pyramid. That's my own made up name. It's a decorative candlabra that has fan blades above that catch the heat from the candles and spin the pyramid which has a nativity scene on it. We lit it last night and Edwin was at first transfixed, then determined to get to it. Opps.
We had a treat after opening presents. A loaf of nutty, sweet, cinnamon braided bread. Hope it's still available when Grammy and Gramps get here. Then of course we enjoyed our presents, or cleaned up, or finished making presents.
And then we went for a nice walk in our neighborhood. Into vineyards where we had not been before, with a really nice view.
It was good to video chat with lots of the family. Good to hear everyone's voices and see everyone's faces.
